A plant based diet, usually known as vegetarian or vegan diet (I like to use the word nutritional intake rather then diet due to the negative connotation of the word) is the best source of nutrition a person can consume. Preferably one that mainly consists of raw fruits and vegetables. Colon cancer is one of the biggest killers in our country today. Only lung cancer kills more Americans then colon cancer. One of the ways to prevent and treat colon cancer is cutting meat out of ones diet. Many may say this is not true or not easy to do, but think of it as a gradual process. The American Cancer Institute says that 35-50 percent of cancers are due to foods. Meat, besides tobacco is one of the biggest killer in this country. With this information it should not be so hard to start cutting meats out of our diets. It is as easy as cutting back to just chicken, and fish and eliminating red meats first, and increasing the amounts of vegetables you intake. Vegetables are high fiber foods, and that high fiber diet is what is usually recommended by doctors to help prevent and treat cancers. Animal foods contain very little to no fiber at all. The shape of the large intestines make it hard for meat that will never get fully chewed and broken down by our salivary glands to pass through the curves and bends of the large intestines, so the half chewed, half digested meat stays trapped in the bends. Have you ever seen what happens to meat if it is kept closed and warm in a container for days, weeks, or months. Its pretty disgusting. Well that is whats going on in your intestines if you eat meat. Vegetables are more easily digested and do not get trapped in your intestines as meat do. This is just one of the attributes of meat eating that gives way to cancers such as colon cancer. Not to mention all of the additives, hormones and antibiotics added to the meats to enhance the animals size for the mass distribution and sales of these live stocks in order to make the agricultural industry in the country massive amounts of money at our expense. Well where am I going to get my protein you ask? Well all legumes, beans and green leafy vegetables have protein and iron. Our meats can easily be replaced with hearty fruits and vegetables like avocados, mangoes, cabbage, and collard greens (without the pig feet). All you have to do is start today, replace your hamburger with portabella mushroom sandwich, with all the fix ins with a side of brown rice, on whole wheat bread. Very high in fiber and delicious. And little by little cut the meat out and save your life. You can Start Eating Healthy Today. All it takes is a little commitment to yourself and your loved ones. Start Saving your Life Today!
